I was gifted a "Century Tree" a few years ago. Fr I was gifted a "Century Tree" a few years ago. From the TAMU website: "Texas A&M University's renowned Century Tree has become the stuff of legend over the last 100 years, believed by many Aggies to bring good luck to couples who pass under it. The Century Tree, located near the Academic Building, holds a special place in the hearts of many Aggies. Well over 100 years old, the tree was one of the first planted on Texas A&M's massive 5,200-acre campus." The Aggie Century Tree Project began in 2010 as a fundraiser for a $100,000 President's Endowed Scholarship for Texas A&M University. Century Tree seedlings were grown from acorns harvested from the Century Tree. These live oak seedlings were available for purchase to fund the scholarship. The project has since ended with the passing of its founder Andy Duffie '78. It's my understanding, this tree planted in Gallatin, TN is the northern-most Century Tree. We found a Texas A&M birdhouse while on vacation in the Smokies last week. We, of course, had to bring it home with us, and today it found a home beside the Century Tree. #centurytree #liveoak #birdhouse #tamu #gigem #aggies
