ABOUT ME
Life: You can’t make this stuff up!
Is it just me, or does life trump anything that Hollywood could ever create? No, I don’t mean those things that require major CGI magic. I mean the stories.
Time and time again, I find myself walking away from a situation laughing inside at the beautiful absurdity of it…
That’s what this blog is about… the beautiful absurdity (or sometimes the fantastic boringness) of life.
I’m Denise Mattox… born and raised in Texas, I now call the Middle Tennessee area home with my awesome husband (who is a musician and tour bus driver) and three cats.
I have my BS in Journalism from Texas A&M University (Gig’em Aggies!), and I currently work as a freelance photographer and beertender at Yazoo Brewery in Nashville. I also am very proud to work with my parents in their income tax preparation business in Texas.
In 2022, I was diagnosed with Triple Positive Breast Cancer. After chemo, radiation and surgery, I was declared no evidence of disease in 2023.
I wrote the blog Musician’s Widow from 2007 – 2017, where I documented life as I learned to live the “road widow” life, and I discovered my passion for photography. It served its purpose well, and I still am so proud of that blog.
I’m glad you found me at my new home here at Mattox Live… I welcome you to take a moment to like my blog page on Facebook to know when I post a new blog here!
“If you just learn a single trick, Scout, you’ll get along a lot better with all kinds of folks. You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view… Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.” — Atticus Finch, To Kill A Mockingbird
